NJPAC’s growing operations exposed critical areas where financial processes were no longer keeping pace with the demands of the organization. Reporting cycles took too long, financial data was scattered across multiple systems, and essential workflows lacked structure and traceability.

Before migrating to NetSuite, NJPAC’s finance team ran on Microsoft Dynamics SL, the organization’s legacy finance system. NJPAC’s other core platforms were already in place and remain in use today: Salesforce for donor and fundraising activity, ADP for payroll, and Ticketmaster for ticketing. The limitations were in Dynamics SL itself. It could not provide real-time budget information, built-in approval controls, or dashboards that let staff drill down into transactional detail, and it did not integrate cleanly with the other platforms.

Reporting alone previously consumed more than five hours every month after the close as the team ran macros, manipulated spreadsheets and reconciled results across workbooks. Fund accounting, restrictions and project tracking required manual oversight, which slowed decision-making and increased the risk of errors.

Vendor bills and purchase orders were routed via email, leading to inconsistent approvals, delayed responses, and lost documentation. NJPAC needed centralized visibility into transaction status to support the strong financial controls essential for nonprofit auditing, budgeting, and compliance.
